"2008 China Logistics Industry Outlook" was held on Jan. 18th

The first ASTL member meeting, titled "2008 China Logistics Industry Outlook" was held at El Fogoncito Mexican restaurant on Jan. 18th. Nearly 40 people from the logistics industry representing local, American and European companies attended the event to hear two industry experts speak on their expectations for this year.

The speakers Mr. Bill O¡¯Brien, President Greater China of HAVI foods and Mr. Jiang Chaofeng, Executive Deputy General Manager of China National Materials Storage & Transportation Co presented a positive industry outlook for this Olympic year.

They expect further development in the management and use of technology in logistics. One major area of advancement will be improved food safety. At the same time, we must also pay attention to the effects of rising interest rates and shortage of fuel supply which may drive up cost and cause disruptions in the supply chain.

After the presentations, the participants enjoyed an authentic Mexican dinner. They especially enjoyed meeting other industry peers and building their business contacts.

The next members meeting will be held on Mar. 20 2008. The topic will be ¡°Supply Chain Risk Management¡±.
