The 1st ceremony of Global Logistics Management Level I (GLM I) that run by American Society of Transportation and Logistics(ASTL) and Shanghai Nanhu College together was held on Apr. 11th in Shanghai.
The first group of graduating students for the Global Logistics Management (GLM) Level I course received their certificates at a ceremony held at Shanghai Nanhu Vocation School on April 11, 2011. The pilot program was jointly run by the American Society of Transportation and Logistics (ASTL) and Shanghai Nanhu Vocational School. Twenty-eight students received their GLM Level I cortication of which eighteen were offered internships with DTW Logistics and YRC Worldwide.
ASTL Executive Director Mrs. Laurie Denham along with U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration, Director, Office of Service Industries, Mr. David Long travelled from Washington DC to attend this event. Shanghai Hongkou District government, ASTL China Chief Representative, Principle of Shanghai Nanhu Vocational School, representatives from DTW Logistics, CR England Logistics, and Penske Logistics also attended.
The Global Logistics Management Level I (GLM I) was developed by American Society of Transportation and Logistics (ASTL) as a skill-based training and certification program with an Market Development Cooperators Program (MDCP) award from the U.S. Department of Commerce. The GLM program incorporates advanced management techniques and operation experiences of the American logistics industry, also localize with Chinese logistics market characteristics and business requirements. Aim at developing the next-generation workforce for the logistics industry and establishing a platform for future career advancement.

Having 18 industry placements is an exceptional start and demonstrates the quality of the training and its importance to industry. We are delighted to partner with ASTL in this program,” said David Long, Director, Office of Services Industries, at the International Trade Administration in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
